interspersed with aspirations
there were congratulations
we knew we had to abide by the regulations
even with our aspirations
and the stab of childhood regret
about the stupid shit we did back then
in the oil town
and we drank beer in the oil town
and we woke up in a cowboy town
and I did a lot of stupid shit
shit that I shouldn't have probably even survived
but a lot of dumb shit too
that made a lot of people angry
because I was a total dumbshit then
and I deserved their scorn
I deserved the shit that they gave me at the time
and it was childhood regret
that spilled into the beer drinking in that cowboy town
the next day we woke up in a oil town
and that's how I ended up in weird town
weird town, ooooh, USA
and there were a lot brilliant scientists there
and there were a lot of brain surgeons there
and they drank beer
until they shot people in the face
or drove their car off the bridge to avoid a moose
and plenty died there
yeah, plenty died there
or maybe just a little bit later
when they figured out
what the fuck had happened there
in that oil town
where you could go to sleep and
wake up in a cowboy town
and the next day it'd be an oil town
